Showroom

The following pieces will be on display and for sale in the flowershop Las Flores de la Vida from the Thursday the 1st of April to Friday the 30th of April. I have collaborated with Vanesa before and am pleased to be doing so again. She has a beautiful shop and is a thoughtfully detailed creator of some of the loveliest flower arrangements I have ever seen. For those who physically go to her store to purchase a piece, or who have already given a piece of mine a home (whether that piece was purchased or gifted to you), a special price will be offered. You may contact me directly to request the password to that Special Price List via email, my Spanish phone number, on Instagram or on Facebook.

This small plate was a tried and true design that I use for making the saucers that sometimes accompany teabowls, but testing a transparent shiny overglaze. In the end, this is a stand-alone piece, because the matte overglaze was much more attractive. The painted lines were too sharp, whereas the matte overglaze diffused those lines with more interesting visual effects.

This small red teabowl is another test piece of a tried and true design, which I use for making a different style of teabowl and larger rice and soup bowls. Unfortunately, the clear overglaze failed to inspire me to use it more with this particulr style of painting underneath. Once again I found myself preferring the matte overglaze in this expression. This piece stands alone.

This teabowl is part of the Hope Springs Eternal series. I shared it on the Vernal Equinox, a day when night and day, light and darkness, are equal. A day the Earth returns to a place of perfect balance. The start of Spring represents an opportunity given to each of us to begin implementing changes required in order to grow and flourish.
The wildflower Silene Pendula, known commonly as the Drooping or Nodding Catchfly is an interesting flower with unclear meanings, symbolism and roots. Silene is the feminine form of Silenus, a Greek woodland deity.
The Vernal Equinox, this wildflower, and my love of wildflowers in general are the inspiration for this piece. I was filled with inspirational thoughts about clean slates, optimism, and anything being possible with Spring in the air. Joy, happiness, positivity, optimism, resurrection, and faith. I also thought about beauty, adaptation, thriving, being fierce, living free and having fun.
Like this wildflower, we must allow ourselves to grow in all the places we never thought we would, especially in uncertain times and circumstances. I think it’s important to try out new ideas, connect with life with a playful curiosity, approach daydreams and those new ideas with a light-hearted child-like spirit. And because this is the season of illumination, Spring brings clarity, and for this, it is one of my favorite seasons. This is the time of the year to get really clear on what we want in life … and if we have a clear vision, an open heart, an open mind, each of us has the power to transform our lives and make it so.
