“Caught this female Brown Trout at 7:37 a.m., then let her go.
‘Where?’ you ask. I can’t say.”

“I was the only one to land fish that morning.
Hauled this guy in at 7:57 a.m.
Two guys who’d ‘fished every little puddle’ from New York City to her
tried to crowd in on my spot.
What do you do when that happens?
Just stand your ground,
pay them no mind,
and keep quartering upstream.”

“Yup, it’s a male.
Chased this one 100-ft downstream,
through a 6-ft culvert under a road,
side-stepping my way through so as
to not be swept away in the rushing water and
still maintain tension on the pole.
Lost my net along the way so two guys
ran and got theirs.
They hadn’t caught fish all day so
I gave them this one.
They probably went to the cleaning station telling a fish story,
about how they chased it downstream,
through a culvert,
under a road…”

“One of two Chinook Salmon I’ve kept,
a big female so full of life I could hardly lift her for this picture,
my arms were shaking and weak from the day’s fishing.
At 42-in. and 27-lbs,
though I think the scale was off,
she was a beaut, roe went everywhere trying to get her into the cleaning station,
although I still regret not letting her go to this day.”

“We’d take the Fisher Dominator out in Charlotte Harbor on calm days.
It’s only 10-ft to 12-ft at its deepest but the wind came stir up quite a chop.”
